Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Avionics Specialist to join our growing general aviation maintenance team. This position focuses on installation, troubleshooting, and repair of avionics systems in piston aircraft. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Garmin systems, systems, clean wiring practices, and the ability to manage avionics projects from start to finish.

This is not an airline or jet position - we are a fast-paced general aviation shop working primarily on aircraft such as Cessna, Piper, Cirrus, and Beechcraft.
Airline, jet-only, or military-only experience is NOT sufficient for this role

A&P License Required

Responsibilities:

  • Install, upgrade, and troubleshoot avionics systems in general aviation aircraft
  • Perform complete panel upgrades, retrofits, and rewiring projects
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and installation manuals
  • Fabricate and install wiring harnesses using proper aviation standards
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, communication, navigation, and GPS systems
  • Install and configure Garmin avionics systems (G1000, GTN, GNS, GI275, etc.)
  • Perform ADS-B installations, configuration, and testing
  • Assist with autopilot installations and troubleshooting (Garmin, STEC, etc.)
  • Perform system testing and functional checks after installation
  • Ensure all work complies with FAA regulations and manufacturer specifications
  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly documented work
  • Collaborate with mechanics and team members to complete projects efficiently
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed

Experience & Requirements:

  • Minimum 8+ years of hands-on avionics experience in general aviation aircraft (piston aircraft required)
  • Airline, jet-only, or military-only avionics experience is NOT sufficient
  • Strong experience with avionics installation, wiring, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with Garmin avionics systems (G1000, GTN, GNS, etc.) preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics
  • Experience with panel upgrades and retrofit projects
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and avionics integration
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects from start to finish
  • High attention to detail and clean wiring practices
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities

Preferred:

  • Experience with autopilot systems (Garmin, STEC, etc.)
  • Experience with ADS-B systems and compliance requirements
  • Experience with IFR certifications and pitot-static systems
  • Experience working in a fast-paced general aviation shop

  • Fast-paced general aviation maintenance and avionics shop

  • Hands-on, team-oriented environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in tight spaces (behind panels, under dashboards)
  • Ability to lift equipment and components as needed

Pay: $35.00 - $75.00 per hour
